Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art Adams-Clear Tumblers, Set of 4
Vintage glassware with a story to tell.
These clear 12 oz. tumblers have a clean, straight-sided shape that gives way to a richly molded lower section of fan, plume, and scroll motifs above a ribbed base. The combination of simple clear glass and ornate texture gives them presence.
Why These Are Special
These glasses come with some history. Each glass carries the molded MMA mark associated with The Metropolitan Museum of Art and features the discontinued Adams-Clear pattern produced by Pilgrim Glass.
The design is a revival of late-19th-century Adams & Company pressed glass in The Met’s collection, with original examples dating to about 1870–1890. Pilgrim Glass later produced this interpretation for the Museum, bringing a historic American glass pattern back into everyday use.
These particular glasses appear to date to the 1970s–1980s, giving you glassware you can actually use along with a small piece of American glassmaking history.
A set of four also makes them genuinely useful: enough for drinks with friends, a small dinner, or simply upgrading the glasses you reach for every day.
Styling & Use
Use them for iced tea, water, lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails. The clear glass works with nearly any dinnerware, while the patterned lower section adds detail to even a simple table.
They pair especially well with vintage china, linen napkins, silver or brass serving pieces, or simpler modern dishes. You don’t need a fully vintage table setting for them to feel at home.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. All four glasses in each set have been inspected and are free of chips, cracks, and notable scratches. As with vintage molded glass, minor manufacturing characteristics may be present, including small trapped air bubbles or slight variations in glass thickness or weight. The molded MMA mark is present on each glass, although its prominence may vary from piece to piece.
